Woolzies {giveaway}

January 28, 2013 By Melissa Dell 32 Comments

28 Jan

As you know, I’m a cloth diapering mama, have been since Aubrey was born, and loved it so much, and feel so passionate about it, Jon and I started Bubbalooch – Modern Cloth Diaper Parties in the LA/OC area. I also happen to chat a lot on Twitter with other CD mamas, including Marie-Etta- Cheerful Homemaker. (who also has an adorable Etsy shop!) Anyways, one night she tweeted that Woolzies was looking for some bloggers to try out their product for review, and then giveaway. I contacted them immediately and received this box just after Christmas.

Woolzies are from Soft By Nature, Inc – a small family business in Southern New York. I’m all a bout family businesses! The set of 6 dryer balls are made from handmade pure wool that provide the same benefit as fabric softeners, but without chemicals. They also can help cut down on dry time by about 25%. That was the key point I wanted to try out. With our cloth diapers, I spend 1.5 hours drying them on high. This is due to our All-in-Ones from BumGenius that have lots of layers of fabric sewn at each end, making it impossible for good heat circulation to get between them easily.

So, I’ve been using these for a few weeks now (and with laundry every 2 days, I have put them to test!) and I’m shocked by the dry time. That 1.5 hours has been cut down to an hour. An hour!! 30 minutes saved on the gas to run the dryer! In my loads, I usually have about 3-4 All-in-Ones, plus about 6-8 inserts from our Swaddlebees diapers (they are a long piece of fabric that tri-fold and snap together. The air circulates much better with these).

I’m sold on these Woolzies! They are good for about 1000 dries. So, let’s do the math. If I am averaging about 3 loads of cloth diaper laundry a week, I can use these from now until Aubrey is in college. Just kidding. But this one set will last for all of the Cloth Diaper laundry now, plus when the new baby gets here, until both are potty trained. And if we have a 3rd, they’ll be covered too.

Well worth it in my opinion. And, the lovely family of Soft By Nature is allowing me to give away a set too! You can have your own set of Woolzies! And don’t let my mention of cloth diapers cut you out from participating. This can work on any type of laundry. I’m just using them for this since it was the one area I really needed to cut down on my dry time πŸ™‚ I bet this would also be amazing with my towels. Those suckers take forever to dry! So, There’s a few ways to enter, and of course, I’m using Rafflecopter. If you don’t see it loading right on your phone, you might need to try your computer or tablet/iPad.

The contest ends at 12:01 on Monday, February 11th. So make sure you enter! There is also a daily opportunity through Twitter! And if you don’t win, but want to purchase one of the sets, feel free to visit their site. They’re $34.95 and there is free shipping within the US!

    Do they fold and put away?! Saving drying time in general is great, especially during the winter months (I line dry in the spring, summer and fall).

    Definitely cloth diapers, but all my laundry actually. I want to be as green as I can, and cutting drying time would help.

    I have been itching to get my hands on some of these! I did away with drier sheets a while ago, due to the chemicals. Now we live with static filled clothes. To fix that problem and cut down on dryer time, well, sign this busy mom of 3 up!

    At this point I can’t cut down on dry time but we’re hoping to have an in unit washer and dryer in the next place so these will come in super handy.

    Cloth diapers! I already run them through the washer twice, it’s a total bummer to have to dry some of them for two cycles too.
