I can’t believe that summer is practically over. Can you? As an adult – there really isn’t much change except for the extreme heat and trying to cram as much outdoor adventure on weekends. But with kids, there’s time off from school (and summer school/camp if your kids are enrolled) and here we are – 1 week away from when Aubrey starts preschool again. She attended their summer program and each week had different themes. I loved seeing the artwork that would correspond with each week. She made some pretty 4th of July items for Patriotic week, a cute zebra & leopard hand print animals for Zoo week, a monkey with 3 arms (also for Zoo week), and a chain link snake for another week (that definitely wasn’t Zoo but I can’t remember what it was!!)
We had a family staycation in the mountains and this week we’re taking full advantage of her time off with some activities planned. I am going to take them to see the Minions movie, the beach with my sister, and we wrap up the week with Meet the Teacher night at school and Luke will come too. He’s going to start the 2 year old program at some point (close to when the baby arrives for sure) and I thought it’d be fun for him. Oh, this week I also have to go back to school shopping for supplies. I already bought their clothes (yay clearance!) and Luke’s now sporting his very own Goodbyn lunchbox just like his sister.
I’m excited to do all the errands & adventures this week in a minivan. Well, at least I think I’m excited. I know it’s so convenient and I’m grateful for the opportunity to test it out. I’ll be reporting updates via Instagram and will have a full wrap up before the end of the month. I’m even going to install our infant car seat to REALLY get the full experience. Maybe Aubrey will loan me one of her baby dolls to use for it. At the end of Aubrey’s first week of school we’re going on a date night for dinner, ice cream, music and a movie. I’m not sure she’ll love the movie, but I will for sure. Clueless!!! I might bring the iPad for her so I can catch as much as possible.
As far as pregnancy goes – I’m 24 weeks now. It’s all downhill and Jon and I were going over the inventory of what we have and what we need. The big thing? A stroller. So many things have changed since we bought our Vista in 2011 and then our City Select in 2013. I even saw one that folds BY ITSELF. Crazytown!
It’s also almost time to plan my first meal after being pregnant. But honestly – with baby #3, I’ve definitely been more relaxed on the food stuff I avoided while pregnant with Aubrey and Luke. And I know that after each of their births – the stuff I really craved I didn’t actually want to eat for awhile. I don’t know why. But I will be sneaking in some champs to have a mimosa in the hospital to celebrate this baby and the birth.
We are still team green and a name is REALLY difficult. A girl name is more difficult than the boy for some reason. Which is fine cuz we are about 80% convinced we have the boy name figured out and I’m about 75% sure this is a boy. We’ll know soon enough! If you ask Aubrey – she says she wants a sister because she doesn’t have one. I like to trick her and tell her that Lukey doesn’t want a sister cuz he already has one. She says “yes he DOES want a sister!” Ok but technically he has one! Maybe he wants a brother. Kids. So amusing 🙂
How did the end of your summer shape up? What fun things did you do?
