It’s time for another great & quick recipe!
Every season, before the start of our church’s bible study, we have a dessert kick-off night. The most recent one snuck up on me. I found myself in the grocery store at 5pm trying to figure out what to take with me by 7 that evening. A quick call to my BFF Erica to plead for help resulted in the Dump Cake. I am on Pinterest, but I don’t use it in the same means as she and MJ do. So she told me what to buy, what to do, and said it’ll be awesome. Done and Done!
I picked up the following ingredients as instructed.
1 box cake mix, 1 can cherry pie filling, 1 can crushed pineapple, 1/4 cup chopped nuts (any variety), 2 sticks butter and a throw-away tin
You can also try any other type of canned fillings.
Now, here’s what you do – and everything is better with photos…
Dump the cherry pie filling in the pan
Dump crushed pineapple (with juices!) into pan
Dump nuts into pan
Dump cake mix over everything
Slice butter and place all over cake
Bake at 350 for 40 minutes & check. Should look like above – golden brown. Will seem “liquidy” when removing from oven but will firm up slightly
At the end of the dessert, about half was gone. This is good! I had some and it was really yummy. I will tell you a little goes a long way. About 2 huge spoonfuls is enough. It’s very buttery. Next time I might try using the vanilla cake mix instead of the buttery yellow. Or you could try using less butter (maybe 1 stick? 1.5?) and I really want to experiment with using a chocolate cake mix. Have you tried any other variations?
