For the entire month of February, I will be participating in NaBloPoMo – National Blog Posting Month – where I write a post a day
I’ve written before about store brands vs name brands. But now that I’m writing a post a day, I figured I’d tap into this again. When I’m shopping at the store (mainly Target now that they also have Starbucks inside. And I can get a treat!) I always think twice about splurging on a name brand. The other day I went on a Target “date” with MJ and we hit up the toiletries section. She wanted a new nail polish and I needed some more things. Did you know how many brands of nail polishes they have? A lot. A lot a lot. And they had some of the trendy styles there – like crackle polish. I know OPI has theirs that is almost $10 at Sephora. But scared to try out something for that much? Check out Target. They has some for a few bucks less (I think it was $6-7) and there was also some clearance polishes for a buck! As MJ put it – skimp on trendy items! Splurge on staples!
That comment came from our discussion of clothes, since we’ll both be heading to NYC this summer for BlogHer!!! We were talking about the styles there are now, and how some vanish fast. Example? They had some cute dresses at target ($25) that would look awesome with boots. The dress component is more the trend based on fabrics, patterns, embellishments. But the boots? A great pair can carry you from season to season, and for a few years. Sure you might end up with $200 boots with a $20 dress. But the boots would prove more versatile!
What do you splurge on? And skimp?
