Sometimes, we don’t realize how bad something is, until we look back at photos. I remembered taking this photo, our first grocery trip outing, when Luke was born.
I had Luke in the Ergo, and Aubrey in the shopping cart (with her super awesome Munchkin snackcup.) When I took this pic and shared it on Instagram, I applied a TON of filters. But, no filter was truly going to cover that mess of a face with all the acne. I’ve always struggled with acne – nothing major, but just always there. Very stubborn stuff.
If I had to pinpoint the point in time in which I became concerned enough to seek out a dermatologist, it was a few months before our wedding. I had, what she described, as severe subdermal cystic acne. (Ok so this was many years ago so I might be recalling that differently but it’s basically what it was). All the zits were majorly below my skin and she said she could extract them, but it would most likely cause divots in my skin. Uh, no thanks. So instead, I relied heavily on makeup to cover them up. Ha. what a joke.
Over the years, I’ve tried a lot of different skin care brands and different skin care techniques. I tried Olive Oil. I tried scrubs. But mainly relied on the soap & lotions from anti acne brands. Some were so strong for my face, I had to just wash and use the topical cream every other day. Or every other other day. I expected super awesome skin during both of my pregnancies. But, no. That didn’t come.
After 2 years of non stop hormones between pregnancy, post-birth, nursing, and repeat, I pretty much just gave up. Then last year, I received a sample from a brand, Belli Skincare. They sent me a face soap and scrub. I used them in the shower and within a few weeks, I noticed a big difference. My skin was starting to clear up. When trying out new beauty products, the initial effect could be chalked up to pure randomness and a switch to the normal routine.
I continued using it. Eventually I ran out of the soap and went to Buy Buy Baby to buy another. I posted on Instagram how much I loved it, and a friend texted me to see if it really was working for me. I said YES and she went out and bought it too. I described the soap as mild but mighty. It wasn’t too harsh for my face, but really did a number on kicking my acne to the curb.
(Here’s a photo, at night, with all my makeup worn off. My skin is seriously amazing. I love it now).
Belli Skincare recently sent me more products from their line and I love them too. They sent me their face hydrator (which, I actually already bought because I was curious. It’s pretty awesome too. It does not have SPF so keep that in mind, lotion & a body wash. One of my favorite things about all their products is the scent. Everything is a fresh scent. The lotion is lemon, face wash is cucumber, scrub is peppermint, face lotion is a scent I know, but can’t remember what it would be called.
I recently ran out of the face wash and the body wash and stocked up on a sale going on with SkinStore.com. You can also buy on Belli Skincare’s site (Belliskincare.com), Buy Buy Baby and Ulta. The line is really incredible and if you’ve been suffering with some stubborn acne, I highly recommend trying them out. Follow them on Facebook since they post a lot of their site-wide sales on there. Oh, and because the line started for those pregnant, there’s an assortment of lotions & creams to help with stretch marks!
Thank you Belli Skincare for creating such amazing products to help my skin look and feel beautiful!
