Building Forts – Doc McStuffins Style! #JuniorCelebrates

As you might have seen through Instagram & Facebook, Aubrey’s been having a special helper to get us through the potty training journey – The Diaper Fairy.  Before heading off to help another little boy & girl, she left one super awesome care package for Aubrey featuring one of our favorite Disney Junior characters – Doc McStuffins.

Her signature letter applauded Aubrey for all her successes and said she wanted to give Aubrey a very special treat – to also share with Luke – before she ventured off to help another kid.  Inside the care package was a new bedding set, super fun walkie talkies, a phone, Big Book of Boo Boos and Lambie for Aubrey and Stuffy for Luke.  The bedding was the perfect fit for Aubrey’s toddler bed. (but don’t worry, it comes in twin & full size too!).  Glad to see The Diaper Fairy has access to a Walmart and knows the toddler sheets are in the baby section!

Aubrey was amazed with everything she got and we got a kick out of showing her how to use the walkie talkie.  I remember having those growing up and glad she can have some fun like that too! Although, we had to keep telling them it wasn’t a cell phone.

After bath time came the FUN TIME.  I have to brag for a moment about the awesome forts Jon has been building for the kids.  I never really did that growing up so I am usually just watching him do all the work.  Actually, now that I think about it, Aubrey and Luke just watch him too. Or run around. Or play with toys. Or jump on the blankets and ruin his fort.  Regardless, it’s fun to watch Jon figure out how to make the best fort.  With Aubrey’s new Doc McStuffins bedding, it proved a bit more of a challenge since it’s not as large as some of our blankets we typically use.  But, he was up to the challenge and started with the usual set up right off her bed.

And you can see the kids just running amuck.  I suppose eventually they’ll start pulling their weight in helping with the structures?  After the first run, we realized the fort just wasn’t as awesome as we hoped.  Aubrey still had some fun in it but it was a tight fit for anyone else to enjoy.

So we started over.  Well, Jon started over.  I supervised. I now present to you, how to build a fort in 15 seconds….

Totally awesome right?  Did you catch Luke in the background? That Swiffer is his BFF apparently.  After a fun night of fort building & wrecking & rebuilding, it was finally time for bed.  Quick change of the sheets from Minnie Mouse to Doc and it was off to have her first slumber party with Lambie.  And just like me – always checking that cell phone before bed!

Haha @calling it a cell phone! How funny the generational gaps are! Walkie Talkies were big tech when I was a kid! All of the Doc McStuffins gear is too adorable!

Thank you! Yes I loved walkie talkies. Especially when we’d be caravaning somewhere with other families. Ya know, now we just have cells to call & text!

Too cute. We used to build forts all the time when we were kids. My own kids still do it often.

That is soooo cute! I want to build a fort for pumpkin since it’s rainey outside. This helps me get ideas for how to do it for us! (I also never built forts as a kid).
