This is a sponsored post – Thank you The Stationery Studio for our Holiday cards!
The conclusion of Thanksgiving (and, Ryan’s birthday) brings on the decorating and preparing for Christmas in the Dell house! All last week Aubrey kept asking when Christmas was coming – and when Happy (our elf) was coming. It’s amazing, that at only 5 years old, she already knows how things work around here. Last year we made the decision to go with an artificial tree and that means we can decorate as soon as our belly’s are full of ham (because we’re not team turkey over here). It takes a few days for us to get everything done between decorating inside & outside.
First up – decorating the outside of the house. We started this on Friday and the kids chose what inflatables go on our lawn and by our front door. Luke was pretty happy for the fireman reindeer and I attempted (a few times) to get all 3 kids to look at me at once. This was the best I got. It was a good thing they decorated outside first. Once we came inside for lunch – it started pouring! Crazy SoCal weather 🙂
At night we were able to check out all the lights and I think Ryan was pretty impressed with the icicle lights.
Oh hello Santa!
The inside of our house was done mostly by Aubrey and Luke. I set up the tree during their naptime and then later on they worked on pulling out all the ornaments and placing them on the tree. Since we decided to baby proof our Christmas tree this year, Daddy had to help get the ornaments up higher.
I love combining the traditional round ball ornaments with special ones commemorating a special event – our first home we bought, our first Christmas as a married couple, first ornaments for Aubrey, Luke, and Ryan, etc.
When do I get to help hang ornaments??
After the ornaments were up, the kids were treated to hot cocoa. They love drinking them in the fancy adult cups. This time they picked whipped cream over mini marshmallows.
And now that our house is decorated, I can finally be in the mood for working on sending out our Christmas cards. I still need to set up the spot where we hang ours from all of our friends, but this year my cards arrived the same day as we decorated our home. It’s like they knew it was time! The Stationery Studio has launched a great gold foil line and after working with them for my sister’s birth announcements for my niece, I was excited to actually receive my own cards to send out to all our friends and family.
The Merry & Bright gold foil cards feature a festive red with white polka dot back of the card and the front can contain 4 of your personal photos. Since our photographer always does such an amazing job capturing us all – I have a hard time narrowing it down to select just one photo for a card. Using the sort option with The Stationery Studio, you can select one or more than 6 photos for your cards. I don’t want to spoil our entire card for our friends and family but I did want to share a sneak just for you! Check out their website to see the variety of holiday cards and I love that they just launched cards for adoption announcements.
