Valencia Village – Grand Opening Event & Model Home Tour

If you are new to Santa Clarita Valley, or a long-time resident –  Welcome!  Please also click here to view other restaurants & attractions to visit in SCV!

I love where I live. My family and I moved up to Valencia, CA right before my freshman year of high school. It was a good decision in the long run, but hard to make the first steps into a new school, new town, knowing 1 person as a 14 year old girl. Jon, on the other hand, grew up here his entire life. His parents still own the same home they had purchased before he was born. We know that we want to raise our family here (although we do daydream about moving to the beach!). If you’ve been following my blog awhile, you know we recently sold our condo, and have plans to purchase within the next year. And, if you’re anything like us, we love to drive around scoping out neighborhoods and wondering what the houses look like on the inside.

One awesome thing we like to do is look at model homes. We visited some while on vacation in Colorado after we got married, and seeing how each place is decorated just makes your mind race with possibilities. The cute nursery, the perfectly set dining room, the beautiful landscaped yard – all are picture perfect. Valencia has a lot of new neighborhoods sprouting up, but none have such an extravagant debut planned for your family!

In the Valencia Village area (near West Creek) there will be 3 new neighborhoods – Highgate, Belmont, and Monument built by D.R. Horton. Each development offers their own perks with the available floor plans of the homes. Highgate and Belmont have three available floor plans while Monument has four. Want a living suite for frequent visitors? Belmont offers one floor plan with a bedroom, full bath, living room, kitchenette and a private entry. Or perhaps you’ll use that space for your returning college student that wants a bit of privacy while still being close to home. Have a large family or work from home? Monument homes can accommodate 6 bedrooms! And with the D.R. Horton site, you can use their space planner tool to plot out potential furniture locations to see which layout could be best for your family and your things.

One thing Jon and I always dream about for our house is one to have one that is a Craftsman style. And from the plans for the community, they do have an option for us!

I’m torn between the look of the first and second home. So pretty! The Grand Opening celebration – coined Al Fresco Street Festivalwill take place on Saturday, April 20th from 10am-4pm and will have live music, guided model home tours, and giveaways! Great chance to get your family out and have some fun dreaming of the newest community to live in. To keep up with the Italian Al Fresco theme – there will be chef-inspired bites to munch on or enjoy a beverage from the Italian cappuccino & biscotti bar. And for non-coffee drinkers, there will also be an all-natural lemonade & juice bar.

There will also be some demonstrations at a few of the model homes with 3 of SoCal’s own Mom Bloggers – Romy Schorr of Romy Raves (10am at Highgate), Melissa Lanz of The Fresh 20 (11:15 at Monument), and Andrea Fellman of Savvy Sassy Moms (2:15 at Monument).

Check below for photos taken from the event! Aubrey, Jon & I had a great time!

All homes are zoned for children to attend West Creek Academy Elementary School (opened in 2010). The homes are also close to the Westfield Valencia Town Center with the outdoor Patios containing great restaurant choices (try the watermelon iced tea from Lucille’s BBQ!) and new outdoor play area for kids!

I love looking at model homes, too! It was always a fun family activity growing up as well — my brother and I would pick out our rooms, my dad would analyze the asking price, my mom would be mentally decorating… Nice memories.

While growing up my dad used to take us to see model homes. Now as a grown up I do it a couple of times a year. They are always so beautiful and full of innovative ideas. I love the arch detail on the second one but the third is not Spanish style and I am fascinated by it!

Ya the decor is always so perfect. It would take me years to get my house like that. Mainly because I’d need to mesh my style with the husband’s!

I love to look at model homes too; especially when I’m traveling. They are always decorated so nicely & give me lots of ideas about what I’d love to do myself–they also make me consider all the places I’d love to live!

It is so fun partaking in those model home tours. YOu learn so much about the housing, but you also get inspiration for you go back to design and decorate your own home. Love the home tours big time. Have fun =)

I adore looking at model homes! Did you ever notice there’s never any interior doors on the models? Great way to get decorating tips, too. I love the stone pillars on the 2nd house, but I also love the circular turret on the 3rd one. Is that a bedroom?

I love Model Homes but i always want one!!!! I’ll be interested to find out if these homes have the same extra taxes as the other new homes out here. It always kicks us out of the market. I like the second home!

Great post, Melissa! I love looking at model homes! When we were looking to move, we looked at existing homes but always ended up buying new ones from the builder. My current home is my 4th ‘new’ home.
