The Ollie Swaddle – Parent Review

I have a very special feature for you today! One of my friends – Nina – had been posting on Instagram raving about a new swaddle she purchased for her son, Jackson.  We spoke, in the first few weeks of Jackson’s life, about the struggle with his sleep.  I know it’s VERY difficult and stressful, and emotional and – and – and. If you’ve BEEN in that position, or are IN that position, read on!  Thank you Nina, and of course Hindi with The Ollie World for this review and sponsoring the giveaway at the end of the post!

The Ollie Swaddle Review

Is there such a thing as a restful looking new Mommy or Daddy? Maybe after the first year, but the beginning is tough!  Quick background on me – I’m a 31 year old Mommy living in Southern California with two little boys.  Liam is four and Jackson is 5 months old.

When Liam was born, I had to learn everything on my own – from baby wearing to breastfeeding.  The hospital taught me how to swaddle, but I still couldn’t figure it out to save my life.  YouTube vides were watched, and I still wasn’t successful.  Each try resulted in Liam acting as if he hated it, so I stopped.  I joined a MOPS (mothers of preschoolers) group at my local church and one of the amazing ladies spoke with me about Liam’s sleep patterns.  My answer? He wasn’t a great sleeper.  Of course she asked if I swaddled him, and I told her he just doesn’t like it. She said try again.

That afternoon I came home and did try again.  I wasn’t very hopeful but he slept for THREE hours straight! Longest nap ever! I kept on trying it, and we were Swaddlers until he was just about 7 months old.

When Jackson was born, his sleep was disruptive from a different cause – colic.  It was hard for me because I wasn’t in control, and I didn’t know what to do to help this poor little boy.  I nursed, rocked, walked the house, anything & everything!  No matter what I tried, NOTHING worked.  And like any mom with a newborn, I was perusing Instagram and saw a post about The Ollie Swaddle.  I clicked through to their website and read up on it.

I was trying to determine what made THIS swaddle so different than the others out there.  It was a bit pricey, and I wasn’t sure if I should take the plunge.  I started following them on Facebook & Instagram and after about a month, my sanity was shot.  Jack’s colic was reaching its peak.  I figured anything at any price was worth my sanity.  So, I purchased it.

The Ollie World is also located in Southern California and it arrived the next day.  Their packaging was beautiful – but would THIS swaddle work? Jackson’s first nap with The Ollie Swaddle was amazing!  With this swaddle, his hands are free for movement inside.  The other one I had tried had his arms stationary at his sides.

Another great thing about The Ollie World is their level of customer service.  After about a week of use, the stitching started to come undone. I went back to their website and found the owner – Hindi’s – email directly on their site.  Hindi responded immediately, was very apologetic, and gave me her cell number so we could talk on the phone about the defective swaddle.  The owner gave me her cell number! That’s incredible!

She replaced my Ollie Swaddle and I sent back the defective one. I’ve been using this one for several months and it looks fantastic.  I know the Ollie Swaddle is pricey, but it is DEFINITELY worth it!

I’m desperate to help my 4 month old niece get some rest, along with her poor mama. I’m never going to get to babysit if we can’t get her on a routine! This sounds amazing & exactly the hope we need.

I’m a big fan of swaddling and love that this swaddle allows for the arms to be out – great for when my little one is a bit older.
