See’s Candies – Finding Our Favorites

How many things have you discovered, as an adult, that you LOVE – yet you distinctly remember not liking it as a kid?  Growing up I loved candy, but for some reason I just never cracked open a box of See’s Candies.  I did, however, love their lollypops! I think the unknown contents of the chocolate is what scared me off. What would I do if I took a bit and hated what was inside? Apparently, this was the similar story for Jon.  Now, I’m kicking myself as I realized they would have offered samples to help ease the fear of the unknown. And provide suggestions based on your preference for sweets in general. AND they’ll also provide you with a detailed list of all 90-some flavors so you’ll know what want in your See’s box. Needless to say, I am loving See’s Candies!

A new one just opened up in the Westlake Promenade in Thousand Oaks and some of my fellow blogger friends had a great time learning, as well as packing up the chocolates.  I was offered a chance for my family to take home some treats at our local See’s Candies and we enjoyed our late morning treat before lunch.

Since Jon and I don’t really know what our favorites would be, or what we would even like, we trusted our treats to the knowledgeable staff to provide us with his recommendations.  He said the Milk Bordeaux is a popular choice and I can see why. All three of us – Sorry Luke! – tried it and enjoyed it.  For Aubrey he suggested the Scotchmallow (Honey Marshmallow and Caramel) and she gobbled that up. I didn’t even get a taste!

While I was trying out some other items, she was busy looking at all the pre-packaged items for different celebrations.  We grabbed a Happy Birthday themed lollypop to give to our uncle this weekend.  Luke was a patient soul sitting in the stroller while we got our sugar fix.

Some of the other flavors we grabbed were the Dark Nougat, Raspberry Cream (he suggested adding that with the Peanut Butter Pattie for an awesome PBJ!), P-Nut Crunch, Milk  Butterchew, Scotch Kiss, and so many more.  And now I’m not afraid to use a gift certificate for a 1 lb box that I’ve literally had for 4 Christmases.  You know, once we go through all the chocolate we brought home this weekend.  Oh! And they have a new Lolly! It’s a chocolate-caramel one!  I can’t wait to enjoy that!

While we were being helped, I heard the staff member explain to a parent & child in line in front of us about their fundraiser program.  Aubrey’s preschool hosted one during spring and a few friends helped support the school by purchasing items.  If you are looking for options for school, sports, or church, check out their site for more information! seesfundraising.com

Thank you See’s Candies for treating the Dells to some of your wonderful chocolate treats.  And I can’t wait to have Aubrey and Luke explore their favorites as they get older too!
