Ringing in 2014 in Style

When Jon and I were dating, we rang in one New Year with lots of snacks, and comfy pjs.  When Aubrey was born, we stayed home and tried to re-create that night.  We purchased lots of snacks to sustain us until midnight, as well as some champagne.  Let me just say a tired mama with a 2 1/2 month old baby and champagne do not mix. Jon was trying everything in his power to keep me up for that New Year’s kiss. I barely made it.  The next year (last year) I was pregnant and we were home, again, on New Year’s. Leading up to the night, we talked about what to do with Aubrey.  Do we wake her at midnight? Celebrate at 9pm? What exactly do you do?

Well, we didn’t do much. But as each year passes, we will have new opportunities to build traditions with Aubrey and Luke.  I really like the idea of celebrating with them at 9 until they are old enough to push that back.  But heck, that might not be for another 10 years! Wouldn’t it be fun for us to have our own dance party with snacks and music and get dressed up? We can do pjs or all wear the same color, or pattern.  Imagine us all in stripes like zebras! Or even all in footie pajamas! Hilarious.

Luke will be 6 months this New Year’s Eve and Aubrey 2.  Maybe we can celebrate New Year’s at 6pm just before dinner time.  I think it would be so cute if we did a cozy Cali dress theme. What might that be? Well so glad you asked. Here are some outfits that fit the bill!

Luke’s Outfit:

Teal Blue Checked Shirt

I think the blue shirt would make his eyes pop!  They’re changing every day and I love it. But pretty sure he’ll always be our blue eyed ginger boy!

Aubrey’s Outfit:

I LOVE Aubrey in polka dots. And it’s quite possibly the cutest thing ever when she says it. Puhl-ka daaaahts.  So drawn out.  And the outfits work so well for photos too!
