#StirItUp While I Reminisce about Jamaica { marley coffee }

There’s some places that will always hold a special place in your heart.  For Jon & I, it’s our first home, Santa Barbara, Carpinteria, and Jamaica.  We chose Jamaica as our place to honeymoon back in ’08 and loved every bit about it – the culture, the food, the music, the weather.  We went on a zip-lining excursion and it was a 35 minute bus ride to our final destination. On the bus we saw different parts of the town (Montego Bay) and surrounding neighborhoods.  Almost the entire bus ride Bob Marley filled our ears. It was magical, relaxing, and mellow.  And here I am, 6 years later, getting my first taste of Jamaica, again, through Marley Coffee.

Bob’s son, Rohan Marley, started Marley Coffee in 2007 (about a year shy of when we visited Jamaica!) and owns over 50 acres of a coffee plantation in the Jamaican Blue Mountains.  In 7 short years, he’s not only received the coveted status of Certified Organic, but he’s making moves again.  Coming this summer, Marley Coffee will be one of the first brands to create the recyclable K-cup, EcoCup.  This game changing cup will lower the amount of space in our local landfills as well as decrease the amount of water wasted by not composting the used coffee grounds.

I met up with a few other bloggers in Sherman Oaks to share the great news coming in the summer.  We enjoyed great conversation, awesome food, and amazing coffee.  Everyone’s favorite was the Lively Up! espresso choice!

Keurigs offer a great amount of ease for a perfectly brewed one cup of coffee, tea, or espresso.  This ease results in 10 billion cups being enjoyed annually by those of us living in the United States.  Giving a new place for the cups to go after being used is going to give more opportunity to lessen our footprint.  And that’s a big goal for Marley Coffee.

When you support Marley Coffee, you’re not just supporting a brand.  You’re helping a community – a rather large one.  Rohan is the official ambassador of WaterWise – an organization set to help bring clean water to the Sidamo region of Ethiopa.  The 1 cup of coffee you drink donates 1 penny to the cause, which combined with the other thousands of cups being enjoyed supports 250 thousand residents.  That’s huge!

So go ahead, pick your favorite flavor, and drink up!  Well, Stir It Up! (here’s a coupon for $2 off!)

Thanks, Marley Coffee, for sharing your passion with me and more of my favorite bloggers!  And congratulations on the next big accomplishment Rohan & Team!

    I can’t wait to try this coffee, especially in the EcoCup (K-Cup) version! I have a Keurig & I do fill guilty after I throw an empty K-cup in the trash. I can’t believe no one has thought of an environmentally friendly version yet!
