Happy Valentine’s Day! It’s really just a normal day around here, sprinkled in with a bit more extra “to do” with hearts and balloons and pink. Aubrey dressed herself today and chose a pink flamingo tee with heart leggings. Both kids woke up shouting HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY! We celebrated their day at preschool with a Teddy Bear Parade with decorated boxes. Growing up I remember getting small treats from my mom to open, and candy from my dad (sometimes flowers or balloons too!). Each year we find one small thing to do with the kids and this year Jon took the two big ones to get ice cream cones while I was away at a conference. Later this year, my little sister is expecting her first valentine – a sweet baby girl in early May. I’m so excited but I really think the kids are excited for another little cousin to play with.
I’ve found myself accumulating quite a collection of items for this sweet little girl – including an outfit for her to wear during next winter. It’s been so long since I’ve been able to buy little girl clothing! Yes, I buy stuff for Aubrey but there’s just something sweet about the tiny little dresses with ruffles, or glittery onesies. My sweet friend Halleigh owns Harper & Hayden clothing company for kids. Her little ones are ALWAYS dressed to the 9s. I asked her for something that my kids could gift their cousins for the upcoming baby shower. I just said “Please have it be girlie, and pink, and somehow tie in cousins”
Can you say Nailed It? It’s GLITTER guys! My sweet niece will look adorable in that, along with the biggest bow I can find. Which, I do still need to shop for. Headbands have not yet made it into the inventory of what I have to gift!
I helped my sister work on her baby registry and I was happy to help contribute the brand new 2015 Maxi-Cosi Pria 70 convertible car seat once she’s out of her infant seat. It’s plush, has a cup holder, and has the capability to be positioned Rear-Facing for up to 40 pounds. And since SoCal is ALWAYS hot (even in winter!), the moisture-wicking material can come in extremely handy. That’s one thing that I so despise about the heat. The little ones just get so sweaty while in car seats! There’s also a ton of color options for you if you don’t want to get something so pink and girlie 🙂
Swaddles. There are so many different brands and styles on the market. As a mom of three, I’ve tried almost every design. When we were registering, I really didn’t want to force the “my way or the highway” mentality. With some items, I told her my experience of what worked and what didn’t, but always pointed out it was for our family. Hers might be completely different! This Just Born Swaddle Blanket is the style where the baby sits in a “pocket” and then you wrap out the “wings” around them. It’s in the perfect colors to match her nursery – lilac & white. She’s also tossing in some gray and maybe some teal. It’s going to be such a sweet room for my niece to sleep in!
I have much more to share with you – but this is just a sampling of some of the baby items!
