stinky and dirty amazon video

The kids and I were invited to the launch party for #StinkyAndDirty courtesy of Amazon Kids and KidzVuz.  Sharing with you my honest opinions, always. This post also contains affiliate links Raise your hand if your kids know how to operate Amazon Video and explore new shows?  About a year ago (or longer!) Luke was searching around and found a pic of a trash truck and a digger. The same episode has been playing in our home over, and over, and over.  I admire the kid for his loyalty and I voted for it to come back through Amazon Studios.  Luke was obsessed with the two main characters - … [Read more...]

Luke – Growing Up So Fast

This post contains affiliate links Ok so literally a year ago we were shuffling the kids around and preparing for Ryan's arrival.  Luke moved out of the crib and into the same Toddler bed Aubrey used.  Then, for Luke's 3rd birthday, we upgraded his sheet set to one from Paw Patrol and he was a happy camper. So, when we ventured up to Santa Barbara for my mom's birthday celebration, it was his first time sleeping in a twin bed.  I was not prepared and totally thought he'd fall off the bed.  It was taller than his bed, and even taller than what Aubrey was used to.  But, he did amazing and … [Read more...]

Happy 3rd Birthday Luke

Oh Luke Wayne.  When we found out we were having a boy, I was stunned.  When you were born, and I saw your hair - so bright red/orange - I was stunned again.  You have kept me on my toes and you were my little experiment - I didn't have any brothers, and I didn't have many boy cousins.  I didn't really know quite what to do with a little boy! The first year was so so difficult.  Finally, shortly after your first birthday, you finally slept.  That, was amazing.  So many days before then I would call your daddy just overwhelmed and unsure how I would really keep going on.  But, I … [Read more...]

Our Breastfeeding Story

I realized, when fellow blogger Trina asked, that I have never written about my breastfeeding journey with either baby. I've referenced a bit here or there, but nowhere really on my little site.  So, in honor of World Breastfeeding Week, I figured, why not now? I had absolutely NO idea what to expect when Aubrey was born.  In the hospital, they said she wasn't eating enough so the nurse showed me how to express some milk and feed  to her with a syringe.  I later learned that our hospital (one that is "breast feeding friendly") is not the norm.  I was on a twitter party a few months … [Read more...]

Happy First Birthday Luke!

I know, he's already one, been one for 2 weeks. But I just got all the photos back from our photographer (the sweet and uber talented Becca Rillo!)and going through them reminds me of how much fun we had, and how much a blur that day was.  Special thanks to MJ for coming early to help set up, my Mom for coming to help set up and decorate, Becca for taking the photos (and helping get the back yard ready) and my niece for coming and keeping Aubrey entertained while Jon and I were running around like crazy. I have an entire post on all the details with info on many of the projects here. So … [Read more...]

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Birthday Ideas - TMNT birthday

I left the theme for Luke's first birthday up to my husband.  His choice? Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.  With having two small kids, a full time job, and enough side jobs to create another full time one, I didn't put as much planning into this as my daughter's first birthday. I wanted this to be a more mellow event, with emphasis on fun.  We brainstormed a few ideas and I was able to pull everything off … [Read more...]
