The other day, the big kids opened up our media cabinet and started pulling out the photo books I used to be super awesome in getting done annually.  Every year, around Thanksgiving, there would be promos and discount codes to print through Shutterfly  and keep one for us and give out to our family. As the kids started going through them, I realized the last one I did was winter of 2015 when Ryan was born. Mom … [Read more...]

Small Town Vibe in the Big City

santa clarita valley 4th of july

This post is sponsored by Bush's Beans, all opinions and story anecdotes belong to me :) Thank you for reading! Several years ago, we moved closer to the heart of town.  Our town is pretty large and gets larger every year with new developments popping up.  But each Fourth of July we celebrate Independence Day like a small town with folks congregating on shut-down streets, supporting our first responders, our kids, and small businesses. Our group of friends know they can come park at our house and walk down to cheer everyone one while wearing our red, white, and blue.  Lukey was surrounded … [Read more...]

Cultivate What Matters

cultivate what matters - family

Thank you Lara Casey & Cultivate What Matters team for providing me with an advanced copy of your new book, launching Tuesday June 27th.  Below you'll find the affiliate link to purchase through Amazon as paperback or Kindle As you know, I've been working on my PowerSheets all year long.  I've been working, month after month, to adjust goals, meet goals, discover new goals.  I've had to give myself some grace cuz as I'm half way through the year, I'm seeing how short I am on a few of them.  But that's ok.  In going through all these, I'm (very) slowly realizing it's not checking all that … [Read more...]

13 reasons why - take aways as a parent

I'm a member of the 2017 Netflix #StreamTeam.  I am here to share new information and give my opinion on what I catch as well. Thanks for reading! This post may also contain affiliate links Normally, when new shows come out on Netflix, I take a bit to catch on and watch.  But, with 13 Reasons Why (based on the book by Jay Asher), I finished it within 2 weeks of when it came out.  My co-worker had just finished it and I told her how I was going to load up a new show on my iPad to take on a work trip. She watched it with her teenage daughter and warned me it was great - but very heavy. So, … [Read more...]

Visiting Snow for the First Time

visiting snow for the first time - road trip tools for success

Last month, on a rather last minute decision - we packed up the kids and took a road trip to visit Reno, NV.  Yes, we could have stayed more local and seen snow in SoCal, but we have family & friends in Reno and Jon needed to meet up with some of them for a new project they're working on. Now, traveling with 3 small kids is sort of interesting.  The longest car ride they had was 4 hours to Vegas last summer. I was not about to lose my mind so we decided to split up the drive out to Reno.  Jon and I booked a hotel room just outside of Sacramento and we arrived about 11pm at night on … [Read more...]
