I was invited to attend a media preview dinner at the new Bonefish Grill Valencia in Santa Clarita Valley. All opinions are mine
Warning – do not read this if you’re starving.
Last week I had the privilege to attend a media preview dinner at the newest restaurant to hit Santa Clarita Valley – Bonefish Grill. Any opportunity to get dolled up and enjoy amazing food will never be passed up by me! Even with a full bar menu – the wonderful staff created 2 different beverages (non-alcoholic!) for me to enjoy with the rest of the attendees. I was so happy and can’t wait to return after this baby comes for a sampling of what the cocktails are all about!
(my virgin watermelon martini)
When I attended a luncheon just prior to the opening of their Northridge Location – I went with Carolyn and we were able to sample things off the menu of our choice. This time around, I again went with Carolyn but we were treated to a fixed menu trying sample portions of some of their signature dishes. Passed hors d’oeuvres included their signature Bang Bang Shrimp, Lobster Flatbread and seared Ahi Tuna. I was too busy enjoying those to snap pics, but rest assured, I did grab plenty of our dinner items.
Each Bonefish Grill has some details that vary from location to location. The Northridge store was one of the first to feature the large logo on a wall, and I was pleased to see it here as well. It’s just so gorgeous and classy. The restaurant features a lot of wood details and I was for sure eyeing up those bottles of wine.
There is an outdoor patio with sunshades, misters, and heaters for the cooler months. Inside there is community style seating in the bar and then a traditional dining room.
First up we enjoyed Blackened Baja Fish Tacos served with a lime wedge. With each entree item, we were informed of how certain additions help to bring out the flavors of the ingredients used within the dish. I love lime squeezed on most things as it truly enhances flavors!
Next up was a Cilantro Lime Shrimp Salad. I LOVED the shrimp with this dish. I probably could have eaten a few alone on a skewer
The main dish was a Surf + Turf Mixed Grill trio – Ahi Tuna Pan Asian-Style, Chilean Sea Bass with Mango Salsa, and a perfectly perfect Filet Mignon
I can’t even tell you how perfect that Filet was. I’ve never had a tastier cut of meat (Sorry Dad!). It was cooked beautifully and I ate almost every single thing off that plate. Sure, I’m 24 weeks pregnant, but still – I probably would have found room to eat that entire thing even if I wasn’t.
For dessert, we actually had 2 things to try out. On the menu was the Berry Shortcake but they also surprised us with DIY Donuts. And we all know how much I love donuts!
The donuts tasted more like a cronut and were amazing. I used the salted caramel sauce on mine. They said this is a kid favorite. (they should also add in a pregnancy favorite!) With all of the desserts, we were served with an amazing martini. Mine, of course, was a creation prepared on the fly. I told the manager they need to have it added on the menu as the Preggo Martini! It was a smooth delicious chocolate treat. For those who could drink, they enjoyed an espresso martini that also included an in-house created vanilla infused vodka. I snapped a pic of Carolyns to share.
The restaurant officially opens today and is open for both lunch and dinner. There is also brunch available on the weekends. It’s at the Valencia Westfield Town Center mall on the outdoor patios by Sears.
There was discussion around the table with the other media folks about how this would do in Santa Clarita. We’re a town known for families and many chain restaurants. What we discussed was the lack of a higher quality restaurant that featured seafood. Many places have seafood on the menu, but it is not their specialty. Despite my love of the filet, each and every seafood dish was spectacular and perfectly cooked. Sure, they had a small crowd to prepare for. But it’s refreshing to add a new option for date night. And since Jon doesn’t eat fish – he’ll be pleasantly surprised with the Filet. And he won’t need to touch my Bang Bang Shrimp.
Thank you Bonefish for the invitation to experience the restaurant before it’s opening. I know many couples will enjoy date night here!
