We did her 7 month mini-shoot Saturday. Really, it was just me taking some extra photos of a cheerful girl for her weekly session.  But she was dressed cute for a trip to Ikea and I like to fill my posts about her with photos.  First, here are her stats:

Birth: 7lbs 20z, 20″ long, head circumference 13″

1 month: 8lbs 14oz, 21.5″ long, head circumference 14.5″

2 months: 10lbs 6oz, 22.5″ long, head circumference 15″

3 months: 13lbs (appx. used our scale at home), 24″ long, head circumference 16″

4 months: 13lbs 10oz, 24.5″ long, head circumference 16.75″

5 months: 15lbs (appx. used our scale at home), 25″ long

6 months: 16lbs 12oz, 25″ long

7 months: 15lbs 10oz (for the record, this one was taken at my MILs and the 6 month at the doctors. Someone’s scale is off, as this girl is definitely not losing any weight). Length TBD

Foods for this month:

Butternut Squash, Acorn Squash, Sweet Potato (as I learned last month I actually made a yam for her), Peas, and the fruit is a maybe. It’s not really in season (Nectarine & Plum) right now but should be soon.  Oh Bananas also made a debut.

 Her brother (Butters) makes her SO happy. You can tell in that photo. Any time she catches a glimpse of him, instant smiles.  She’s very expressive and comes up with some hilarious facial expressions. She can move  both eyebrows up, or just one. She has the funniest giggle/grunt when she gets really worked up.

She’s learning how to move her body a bit more, and I’m sure crawling is coming up on the horizon.  She loves to stand and sometimes I wonder if the world looks more interesting a few inches higher.  But happy 7 months baby girl! Love you so much!!

So last night the hubs and I were discussing Mother’s Day. He was saying how he had a brilliant idea for a gift, but wasn’t sure if he should go with it since it’s a lot of money. I said Ya, probably not the best idea right now.  He said he wasn’t sure if he should get a thing or plan an experience. He said he’ll figure it out.

But, I wanted to talk about the first ever gift he bought me, and how after that, I’m surprised he stuck around. Why? Cuz I was (not on purpose) a bitch with my reaction.  Thank goodness he was a good sport, and we can now laugh about it. Although I was laughing about it 2 seconds after it happened…

It was my birthday - 2 months after we started dating.  We had dinner at my apartment and after he said “Gift time?” um, YES PLEASE!   He pulled out a gift bag and it was heavy. Always a good sign!  I opened the card, super sweet. I still have it somewhere. I always keep my cards.  Then I removed the tissue paper and saw this glimmering item staring back at me.  And I looked at him, and looked back at the bag. And pulled it out.

It wsa a gold metal purse in the shape of a treasure chest. Obviously my filter sucks because I burst out laughing. I thought it was a joke. And then I looked at Jon and though crap!  He said that he thought I was pretty fashionable and he wanted to get me something special so he went to this boutique by his job and the lady there helped him pick this out.  I immediately stuck my foot in my mouth, but at the same time, I couldn’t honestly keep something that I wouldn’t use. I’d feel bad.  So he basically offered to exchange it for something else.

We still joke about that first gift f rom time to time. And with last night’s conversation, I found this and sent it over to him with just simply “LOL What does this remind you of?” 

He replied  See? I was ahead of my time!   Thank god he has a good sense of humor. And that my lack of filter didn’t have him running towards the hills!Do you have any bad gift giving stories? Whether you gave or received?? Please tell me I’m not alone here.

But then Maria saved the day. She posted some recipes and one was for Corona Cupcakes!! She posted one from Lauren Conrad but it made 24. And it was early and I refused to do math. So I found this one from Not Your Mama’s Dinner and I added 1 step and changed another.

After removing the cupcakes from the oven, poke several times with a toothpick and brush more Corona on top. For the frosting, taste it!!! 4 cups of powdered sugar is very sweet. I ended up doing less (about 2 cups) and doing more lime zest.

I bought her the Life planner because first, I think she needs it. Girlfriend always has a ton going on. And second, I wanted to see one in person to scope it out as a potential planner for my 2013 one.

So the box came today and can we say HELLO BRANDING!!!

I am a girl who loves details and this, my friend, is detail done right. I wish I could do something like this for Bling Diva Designs. One day perhaps . Inside the box I was sent some cool labels to use for anything I want. But since it says a little something FROM me, I suppose it means I need to start sharing the love with my friends and give them a token of my appreciation for their friendships

I uploaded one of my fave photos from Aubrey’s 5 month photo session for the iPhone case pic. The case itself is super nice! It wraps around the front of the phone (black wrap) and is smooth but not too slick. And with the technology they use, the photo won’t fade or chip or peel! Score!!

Recently it came time to move my grandma into a care facility. And in the past few days her health was starting to decline. Aubrey and I were able to get some time to spend with her and the rest of the family. She was surrounded by loved ones last night as she passed. And now all of us have another guardian angel smiling down on us. Love you Grandma!
